Designed
with Built in Obsolescence.
Most
of the 11 billion pairs of conventional manufactured shoes made each
year are designed so
that they cannot be repaired.
They are designed with Built in Obsolescence.
Once the sole is worn out, you throw them
a way.
It is a waste. It’s a waste of materials, skills and energy that
ends up rotting in landfill.
Most Manufactured Shoes are designed to
be consumed and to last just a Season's Fashion.
The average person in the UK - The Consumer
- consumes five pairs of shoes a year.
What with Shoe Shops looking for at least
one hundred to three hundred percent profit on top of the Shoe Wholesalers
profit, which is on top of the Manufacturers profit, who exploits cheap,
powerless men, women and children in the sweatshops of the poorest countries;
there is very little left for materials.
Cheap materials combined with Built in
Obsolescence and the damage Pointy-toed shoes do to your feet with the
consequential loss of vitality and freedom to move, means that manufactured
shoes can work out to be very expensive indeed.
